he said he uses the line "take off all your clothes, lay down on the stretcher and do everything the nice paramedic tells you".
i lauged so hard when he said it.

Looking back on old photos I saw Me on my last Xmas as a child
by Velvetann ini was looking at all my old photos and found this one of me on my last christmas before my parents found the "truth".
i had just turned 3. look at the joy on my face.. i feel so sad for me and now i feel so bad for all those little children born into that religion.
not just because of christmas but because there is no magical days and only days of waiting for armageddon which never comes.. anyone else feel that the children are being robbed of joy and happiness.

It turned out to be the best thing but:
Forced me out of pioneering by words and hostile environment. I had RPd for 10 years, started before I was married--I had lived with my RP parents, elder dad. When I married, husband and I went to a new kh. The powers there resented that I had married this non-pio who regularly put in 8 hours a month, not 10, and told us he was therefore 'not exemplary'. He told the BOE he wanted to help others i.e. reach out, they told him he was just trying to measure up to my 'status' and that 8 hours made him ineligible to help in the cong. We were really mistreated. They actually accused me of studying with my husband to count time. They repeatedly counselled my husband against the 2 of us working together in service. They forbade him from conducting my bible studies; out of frustration I turned over to others studies with interested couples. They told him that I shouldn't be going to my parents' territory to work with them--I was certainly not encouraged to work with my home-court buffoons. Once, in an open conversation about vacations including a common vaca spot, I said 'We went there once, years ago'--and the ring leader elder of this bunch said 'Well haven't you lived a charmed life'. When I had 3 months in a row, got in 80-85 hours a month instead of the required 90, they told me I just didn't meet the requirements and had one more month to get my schedule straightened out. So, I quit. It was all so eye-opening. My husband was needed to work on the AC units on the roof during the meetings on several occasions, and did so, but he was never permitted to carry a microphone or read or pray for the cong...but could ruin his good suits and miss the meetings.
That cong was the worst 4 years of our JW lives, and the first time I experienced the shit-stick end of nepotism, favoritism and bias.

Her story, the above link, was posted a few days ago. She is not a jw, but her 14 yo grandson who was raised jw by an aunt, well, he is a recent, young No Blood Transfusion victim. Her story about his short life is heartbreaking of course; the fact that her jw daughter, the aunt who raised the boy a jw, bribed Olga and the boy's birth parents with his ashes--if they'd stay away from his funeral--is just disgusting.
I contacted the St. Pete's Times writer of that article and was told that Olga doesn't have a computer, but that he is printing emails of support that come to him to give to her, but she is missing something. . . all of US!
I got her confirmed address online and will keep that confidential, so if anyone would like to send a card or letter, or an email (I'll print and mail) please PM me for my mailing and em address, and I'll send them to her all together, or as I get them. I think that she'd benefit from knowing that we're here and that she's sooooo NOT ALONE!!

Part 2: OMG - I did it - I told my Mom and Dad how I feel...
by Princess Daisy Boo in5 days after the big showdown with my mom, she called me today.
well she is a bigger person than me - i certainly did not have the guts to do it.
we made a bit of small talk and then she brought up saturdays discussion.

I don't think it's wimpy. Maybe you need to just play it so you can have them in your life. (Remember, they won't stop preaching to you--every response you give will put them closer to cutting you off.) But, they won't live forever, although they still think they will; you can still be the good child and be an evil internet-surfing apostate with us. It's all good.

Does anyone else notice?...
by still_in74 ini started this in another thread but i think it deserves its own......... does anyone else notice, that as they see the wt for what it is, the wt articles seem to not actually "teach" anything anymore?
- it just seems to constanly preach over and over to not listen to apostates, not listen to news/internet/documentaries, not listen to anything critical of the org.
just to read the bible and "by extension" bible-based literature.

Don't get me started!!! Yes I find that to be true. Unable to reason or logic on daily topics and in relationships. Think about it, in the case of JWs, the learning curve for what's true, right and acceptable is really only about this high (that's about a foot off the ground). They think that they're so elevated above the 'world' and other religions, but they're not. Here's what I mean.
The studying and the reasoning that they say they do, this takes place really only in the first few weeks of a new student's JW life, the rest is letting the mind fall into the well-prepared trap of thoughtless obedience. A student reads the paragraph, as an example: 'We must avoid certain types of entertainment such as R-rated or PG-13 movies because they can lead us astray from the faith, and Satan will use eveything in the world to persuade us to leave the safety of God's organization'. (2Cor 4:4) This scripture says nothing about entertainment, movies, Satan, trickery, God's organization, it really doesn't say anything, because without being told the JW belief that 'the god of this system' is Satan, it's meaningless. That's where the student is 'sold' on JW doctrine, that's where the teacher/salesperson comes in. It's all sales techinique and hypnosis.
Later, when these people believe they know everything and have immunity from the laws of human decency and the courts of this land, why would they spend their time thinking and seeking to improve their behavior and their smarts? They are told and believe that every subject they will ever need is in the Awake and WT, so who needs college. I remember they said that the Kingdom Song Book contained all the music theory anyone would ever need, so don't even seek a higher music education!!
When people are told to stop learning and they obey, they get stupid.

Wow tall penguin and lady lee. TP, did you just shake your head later and think, 'wait, wasn't I there, I know how I felt???' Geez.
An easy doctrinal one is 1975, where THEY said it would be the end. When it wasn't the end, THEY said it was the flock who conjured up all this date excitement, 'some of the flock, who in their enthusiasm to see Jehvoah's Day come, had incorrectly placed emphasis on a date...' And the flock says, 'yeah that was us, weren't we silly'. We had to dig up decades old WTs and other lit to prove that THEY printed it, THEY taught it. Then when confronted, THEY say and now have the flock saying, 'that's old, that's apostate, we never believed that, where did you get that, the internet?'
On a personal level, when I was a teen jw, I had on several occasions had elders come up to me and scold me or ridicule me after a meeting, just because they could, and I had never been in any sort of elders' meeting for 'wrongdoing'. I would go to the car and cry, and go home and be miserable, and think, 'how can my shepherd treat me this way?' And I'd cry to my parents that they'd always say, 'He didn't mean it, you must have misunderstood, and HOW can you criticize that brother when you've hurt people too, and don't you know that he's just an imperfect man trying to fulfill is obligation to SAVE YOUR LIFE?!'
Have I mentioned how I despise THEM!
